Successful tour to Dutch Carribean and Surinam

'A sense of belonging' was the theme of the combined writers' tour by Winternachten to the Dutch Carribean and Surinam. For two weeks, from 13 to 24 April 2010, writers Bas Heijne (Netherlands), Yasmine Allas (Netherlands/Somalia), Reggie Baay (Netherlands), Bernice Chauly (Malaysia) and Iman Humaydan (Lebanon) traveled through the Caribbean, performing before a general audience and for students and school pupils on Sint Maarten, Curaçao, Aruba and in Surinam. Winternachten collaborated with four local partner organisations that were responsable for the local elements in the programme. The tour was very successful, regarding the more than enthousiastic response of the audience, the active contributions of the students and pupils during the programmes and the way in which authors from various countries exchanged thoughts and ideas.
