Winternachten festival showcases books, poetry and music during UIT Festival Den Haag

During UIT Festival Den Haag on 2 and 3 September 2017, Winternachten festival-organizer Writers Unlimited offers free showcases from its upcoming festival edition (18-21 January 2018) on the Lange Voorhout stages. Poets Mira Feticu, Joost Baars and Max Lerou perform their works; Boi Akih and Balout Khazraei play music intermezzi and in the speakers' corner writers and visitors tell about 'The book of their life'.

Reduced-prize Winternachten festival tickets on Sunday 3 september only!
At the Winternachten stand, super reduced-prize tickets for the grand festival nights Friday and Saturday Night Unlimited (January 19 and 20, 2018) are available. During UIT Festival Den Haag's Culture Market on Sunday afternoon 3 September only, these tickets sell for 10 Euros (regular price: 28,50 Euros).

Famous The Hague-based poet Max Lerou performs at Embassy Festival as a prelude to his appearance during the 23rd Winternachten international literature festival Den Haag, 18-21 January 2018 at Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag. On the Container Stage, Lerou performs own English language work as well as reads a work by one of his favourite English language poets.

As part of UIT Festival Den Haag's Culture Market on Sunday afternoon 3 September, Winternachten festival presents showcases from the line up for its upcoming edition taking place 18-21 January 2018 at Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag:

- Boi Akih & Joost Baars
Poetry and music meet in an enchanting way during the joint performance of poet Joost Baars and contemporary world jazz & improvised music group Boi Akih (Monica Akihary, vocals & Niels Brouwer (guitar, soundscapes).

- Poetry performances by Mira Feticu, Francis Broekhuijsen and Yuseyrenur Yilmaz
The Hague-based writer, poet and columnist Mira Feticu reads from her own work and from the work of Romanian poet, essayist and art historian Magda Cârneci, who will be a guest at the Winternachten festival 2018.
Francis Broekhuijsen, Winternachten festival programmer and host at various cultural festivals and events, tells about the upcoming festival edition and reads his choice of Dutch language poetry. As a special guest, Yuseyrenur Yilmaz reads the poem she wrote last year during the poetry workshop given by Haags Dichtersgilde (The Hague Poetry Guild) at her secondary school; she also performed during Winternachte festival 2017.

- 'Book of my life': tell about your favorite book
At the speakers corner opposite the Winternachten stand, writers and poets tell about the 'Book of their life': the work that influenced them, the book they recommend to us all. UIT Festival-visitors are invited to join in: give a 5-minute statement about The book of your life and earn a free ticket for Winternachten festival 2018!

Writers Unlimited brings together writers, poets, thinkers and scientists from all over the world to Hague for public talks and interviews about literature, art, science and society: annually in January during the Winternachten festival in The Hague, as well as throughout the year during B-Unlimited, a interview and debate series organized in collaboration with the Public Library The Hague.

Winternachten international literature festival The Hague welcomes over 80 writers, journalists and thinkers from The Netherlands and abroad. The programme offers dozens of interviews about books, contemplative conversations about topical themes, recitations of texts written for the occasion of the festival, film screenings and awards presentations. The festival takes place in The Hague from Thursday 18 up to and including Sunday 21 January 2018 in Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag. For tickets and the programme see
